Blog 1.

For my 50th birthday on June 21st, I shared that I would start writing about my nomadic life. Since then, life had other plans. June and July were consumed with priorities I hadn't anticipated. I guess that's life—beautifully unpredictable.

One intention I have stayed committed to is spending as little time as possible on social media. So if I'm going to be here, I want to share something meaningful.

Before I talk about the journey itself, I want to share what inspired it.

I grew up in a small village in Himachal Pradesh in northern India. Like many families, we didn't have the resources to travel much. Until my late twenties, I had only visited four states in India.

Everything changed after I met my better half.

She has always had the travel bug—and she still does. During the first ten years of our marriage, we traveled to more than 15 countries with our kids. To be honest, after a few days on every trip, all I wanted was my own bed and a plate of dal chawal.

As the kids grew older, travel became less hectic, and somewhere along the way I caught the same travel bug.

About five or six years ago, I started dreaming about buying an RV and living on the road for a year or two. Just as we were getting serious about making that dream a reality, life took an unexpected turn. My wife was diagnosed with a serious health issue. Fortunately, it was caught in time, she received the treatment she needed, and—touch wood—she's doing well today.

That experience reminded us that life doesn't always unfold according to our plans.

So when another unexpected event happened last year, we looked at it differently.

In July, our landlord told us he was selling the house and that we had until December to move. We could have rented another home, but instead we decided to put almost everything we owned into storage, pack a suitcase each, and begin living the nomadic life we had talked about for years.

That one decision changed everything.

Was it the right decision? Time will tell.

My wife would probably say it was my decision. 😊

I don't intend to convince anyone that this lifestyle is better or worse than any other. My goal is simply to share our experiences—the good, the challenging, and everything in between. Social media often shows only the highlight reel or the hardest moments. Real life usually exists somewhere in the middle.

As I started writing, I realized each post could also connect with something I love deeply—yoga.

The theme for today is Karma (Action).

In yoga philosophy, karma reminds us that our intentional actions shape our future experiences.

कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन ।
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ॥

"You have the right to perform your actions, but not to the fruits of those actions. Do not let the results be your motive, and do not become attached to inaction." — Bhagavad Gita 2.47

Every action creates a ripple.

Some ripples are immediate. Others take months or years to reveal themselves.

Choosing to leave our home and embrace uncertainty was one such action. We still don't know all the consequences, but we're learning from them every day. More in the next post.

Today's Yoga Practice: Sukhasana (Easy Pose)

Sit comfortably with your legs crossed. Close your eyes and take a few slow breaths.

Mentally replay your day.

Notice one action you took—whether in your words, thoughts, or behavior. Ask yourself:

What if I had responded differently?

Not with judgment, but with curiosity.

Perhaps next time you'll pause before reacting.

Sometimes, a single mindful action can change the direction of everything that follows.

This is the beginning of our nomadic story. Thank you for coming along on the journey.
